NBA Execs take a pay cut due to covid 19:

On Thursday it was reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that all NBA executives were taking a 20% cut in salary including NBA commissioner Adam Silver. What’s more, is that both players and owners have come together by donating time and money to help fight covid 19 in their respective markets. Yesterday former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and his wife Connie Ballmer donated 25 million dollars to the healthcare system in Seattle where the couple resides. Aside from Ballmer, Rudy Gobert, the first NBA player to be infected with the Covid 19 virus donated 500,000 dollars towards the fight. But it hasn’t just been financial donations, but a lot of the NBA community has helped donate things such as hand sanitizer, gloves for the health workers, and masks to prevent the spread of the virus. As a fan of the game that I have loved for some many years it makes me proud not just as a fan but as a human being to see people helping people in a time where we need to come together as one and help fight off the spread of the Covid 19 virus. Yes, we have been without not just Basketball but sports in general for two weeks and to be honest as much as I miss watching my Basketball and Hockey, this is bigger than sports, this is about human lives that are being affected every day emotionally, physically and mentality as well. Now is not the time to worry about when the Basketball and Hockey seasons will resume, I understand that revenues are being affected by the pandemic but right now people’s lives and livelihoods are at stake even those who worked in the sports industry who unfortunately are not able to maintain employment due to the current situation. I like most people want our lives to return as they were before meaning being able to watch Basketball, Hockey etc, but right now our main concern as a race should be practicing social distancing and moreover flattening the curve of the virus so that we can get back to some level of normal.
