After coaching in Los Angeles for the last seven years Doc Rivers just signed to become the next coach of the Philadelphia 76ers. A Coaching that has spanned over 16 years with only one championship to his name, that from 2008 when he coached the Boston Celtics.
After acquiring Kawhi Leonard and Paul George last summer, clippers ownership needed a coach that could help bring the Clippers organization a championship, and the Coach was Doc Rivers.
Unfortunately, that did not happen, as the Clippers gave up a 3-1 lead to the Denver Nuggets which led to the Clippers being out.
Now Rivers has the task of attempting to bring a championship to Philly, the question is can he do it?
Is Doc Rivers the answer to the 76ers playoff woes?
I don’t know the answer but all I can say is I hope he has better luck in Philadelphia than he did in Los Angeles. The 76er fans are hoping that Doc Rivers can cure their playoff drought.
I will be interested to see how River’s coaching style meshes with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. Hopefully, the 2020-2021 season will bring the 76ers a lot of good luck.
Because I feel like they will need it but let’s wait and see. I don’t want to speculate as too whether or not this coaching move will be good or bad.
If we look at what happened in Los Angeles I honestly can’t put all the blame on Rivers, I feel like the two superstars in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George should take some responsibility in the total collapse against the Nuggets.
Hopefully outcome in Philadelphia will be much more fruitful than it was with the Clippers.
