Blazers go into playoffs on a high note with a win over the Grizzlies:

Saturday night the Portland Trail blazers capped off their season with a win over the Memphis Grizzlies 126-122. Now Damian Lillard and the Blazers get ready to play the Los Angeles Lakers in the First-Round of the Playoffs.

When you look at the season series between these two teams, Lakers had the edge. But the playoffs are a different animal altogether. It’s the best of 7 series, and the first team to four games will advance, now when I look at series objectively, The Lakers have the advantage. But it all depends on which of the two Duos will show up: Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum or Lebron and Anthony Davis. We will have to wait until Tuesday to find out.

Pelicans Relieve Alvin Gentry as Coach:

Yesterday the New Orleans Pelicans relieved Alvin Gentry of his coaching duties after five seasons with the team. I am speaking as a fan when I say, “This bothers me” just for the fact that the coach is as good as the players he has. I mean, what the hell was Gentry supposed to when Anthony quit on the team and demanded a trade out of New Orleans.

Should Gentry have kept Davis in the line-up? Maybe but I think Gentry was in a very precarious position. At the same time, though, I believe that he knew his tenure with the team was up, just with everything that happened. But I also think that not being able to get the Pelicans into playoffs also was a significant factor.

So now that the Pelicans have been eliminated from the playoffs and their coach has been fired; What happens now? Well I certainly think that they have the necessary pieces to build championship contender, pieces like; Zion Williamson, Jrue Holiday, Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball.

The one ingredient that I think is missing with this team is veteran leadership. What I mean by that is someone with a championship pedigree like a Lebron James or a Kawhi, guys who can carry a team on their back. Will they find that ingredient only time will tell.
